finfever
What kinds of material can you make lips with? I want to experiment with lips on wake baits that i make. I need some much appreciated input/advice on this. Thanks.
Fishwhittler
I use 1/16" lexan sheet from US Plastics and it's worked great for me. You can also make bills out of metal and micarta. I haven't used micarta so I can't help you there but for a while I made all of my bills out of metal. You can use just about any metal for bills (as long as it won't rust); steel siding works great. Hope this helps. Ben
BobP
Like Whittler says, 1/16" "Lexan" is very popular - clear, tough, durable, unobtrusive. Lexan is a brand name of polycarbonate and there are many brands. All brands are pretty much the same functionally, as far as I can tell. Another good source is mcmaster.com, which also sells polycarbonate, circuit board, wire, etc at good prices. I like circuit board on shallow baits intended for fishing cover - which swimbaits are not!
