mikefishnfl
I was sitting here reading about pop molds, because I want to make my own frog mold and I had an idea for the pouring funnel. When you pour a hand poured mold, atleast a mold like Del's senko mold, you get a spree on top. Could you not create your lure, mix the POP, and then place the spree from another baits at the the top of the bait in the plaster? This would create a perfectly shaped pour hole. Any opinions? longhorn
Yes, that's one of the ways a sprue cavity can be made...you can use play doh also and all sorts of other things I've read about on here. Make sure it's big enough. I think a frog would take a bigger sprue cavity than a stick...just my opinion...based on mistakes I made with some early molds. Good luck with your mold and let us see how it comes out. I was sitting here reading about pop molds, because I want to make my own frog mold and I had an idea for the pouring funnel. Mike: The best way to do it is to get someone with that mold to pour you some and leave the sprue on (or use your own). That way, your sprue is also attached and perfect sized. Been makin mine that way for a while... My frog spreus are much smaller than stick sprues actually. I wish they were a little bigger! I have my Classic to fish this weekend! I've also read somewhere that an egg sinker just in front of the bait nose can yield an acceptable sprue. Think I'll try it this weekend. If it works, I could post pics or something.
