cintaskevin
Any ideas guys? I've made a few divided cups with JB weld and a thin piece of aluminum for the divider but they all went to hell after a few pours. I scrubbed the sh!t out of the aluminum as well. Zbass
I haven't made one out of Pyrex, but what I use for a divider is the bottom of a non stick brownie or bread loaf pan. I still use JB weld but another member uses a high temp auto silicon. The non stick pan I think is another option to the aluminum. Clean up is a breeze! Pyrex is about the only thing that you can melt plastic in with a microwave.
Zbass
Pyrex is about the only thing that you can melt plastic in with a microwave. I think bojon meant the ones with a metal divider. They can be used in micro if the metal is not shiney. as I said before, I don't use a micro personally, so maybe someone who does and also uses a divided Pryex cup in there can chime in. GB GONE
I have several cups with the metal dividers. My cups are both pyrex and anchor brands. Used sheet metal and attached the metal with JB weld. No issues in the mic at all after several months and many, many gallons of plastic. I used sttel wool and vinegar to dull the finish on my metal. cintaskevin
Thanks for the response Jim. I've done exactly that (Scrubbing/Vinegar) and it still will not work. Can I buy one of your older cups?
Delw
Thanks for the response Jim. I've done exactly that (Scrubbing/Vinegar) and it still will not work. Can I buy one of your older cups? did you use aluminum or stainless? Stainless will not work alum will also its best to use steel wool for the scrubbing. Scotch bright works ok but not as good as steel wool.

Can I buy one of your older cups? I used roof flashing for my divider. It was pretty dull when I started out. Wish I had an "old" one I could spare! I use all mine every evening until the metal is far to hot to touch. Sorry! Good luck!! Jim

Also can someone post a pic so I can see how you have fashioned it before you glued it in?
cintaskevin
I've tried the whole aluminum route as well and I get the same results. I guess that I need to find a glass blower that would make me a custome Pyrex style divided cup.
GB GONE
Be sure you dull the top edge of the metal as well. That top edge is thin but still can be refractive enough to cause sparking. Jim
D.J.
I think if someone who was good at making these wanted to make a bunch up, he could sell them for a pretty dang good price. I know I would probably buy one.

I know I would probably buy one. I use roof flashing the same as Jim. Never had a problem and I have never had to "dull" the edges. I believe the flashing is made of tin (mostly). Just go to your local building supply and they should be around a buck a piece. You want the pre-cut pieces not the type on a roll. They are bent to a 90 degree angle. All you have to do is flatten them out and cut to shape. www.novalures.com
