hybrideye
Hello! My name is Dave and am pretty computer/search illiterate! I saw another forum mention this site (go figure) and wanted to check it out. After about 15 minutes I knew I had found what I am looking for. Amazing stuff on here and the craftsmanship is out of this world! That being said, I will give you guys a brief bio.......Just kidding! I have started making my own lead heads last year, I use a variety of molds and all powder. I have done some trial and error, R&D and the like and have found that it is a very consuming hobby! Thanks for a great site and I hope to contribute a little bit, and show off some of my homemade work. As for the near future I will probably be immersed in the site and getting flack from the wife! Heya Dave! I'm a lead head and powder addict as well! I'd be interested in seeing some of your work! I've only been doing it for a couple years myself and learn something new just about every time I fire up the furnace or toaster oven. Welcome aboard! Vodkaman
H. Welcome to TU. My advice is to try and get your wife involved in the process some way. Dave
hybrideye
Thanks for the welcome guys! GCD, do you do any airbrushing or two-tone heads? I use the paint brush, some visine lookin bottles I got from my girls' craft kits. I made a jig to start two-toning with an air brush if I ever get one. Vodkaman, the wife is kinda sorta involved. I tell her to check on me every now and then to see if I'm still breathing!! J/K, she is a very supportive wife and likes to see my "next big thing". Thanks again for the welcome, I'm headin to deer camp for 6 days, hopefully will put some meat in the freezer!

I don't use an airbrush, but I do some 2 toning. I've just recently started using the brush and tap on method, but have a long way to go with that (T&E!) I do a lot of layering, multiple coats of different colors to make a unique color. I'm going to post a couple pics to the gallery in a little bit, check them out if you have time. cadman
Dave, Welcome to TU. You will find that I spend majority of my time in the jig and spinnerbait section. I've been pouring and painting going on about 7 years. A lot of trial and error and R&D with about 100 different color powder paints. I do multiple colors up to 6 + a glitter coat and a clear coat............If you have any questions ask away guys are very friendly here. hybrideye
been a deer camp most of last week, got home only to find something is very wrong with our computer. I can't get internet on it, I am on wife's laptop now so it isnt the modem! Ugh, I guess I will be sending it home with my buddy cause I am clueless when it comes to the technical side of these things. Anyway, I was wandering about multiple coats of powder. I wanted a grey head so I started expirementing with mixing powder. I came up with some pretty awesome colors, my favorite we call tomato. I saw a member on another forum showing off his homemade crankbaits and I was absolutely blown away. I enjoy making my own tackle and am going to give it a go. I have a few designs drawn up and just need to find the time to start on them. If anyone knows if there is a mold out there that uses the Spot Remover Shaky Head design I would be very interested in seeing it. Thanks again for the welcome and I am sure I will be asking a ton of questions and contributing to the forums as best I can.
cadman
Hybrideye, PM me your e-mail, I can show you some jigs with a gray head pattern or shad color done in powder. Also I have about 100 colors of powder so I can give you some idea on how to obtain different patterns with powder paint.
