YvonG1
Hello I would like to start to assemble my own musky rods. I would like to have information on the choice of the components. How to choose the model of reel seat to go with the blank. I saw that the reel seats have order of magnitude like 16,17, ect Thank you Yvon
Mattman
Tom Kirkman's book is a must have for the beginning rod builder. His magazine, while excellent, is probably a step up for the beginning rod builder. rodbuilding.org is one of the better forums to go to. Lots of suppliers out there. I've used most of them at one time or another. Bingham Enterprises and Angler's Workshop are the two I use 95% of the time. The only time I stray from them is when they don't have something I need and another vendor does. St. Croix makes the best Muskie blanks in my opinion. Seats need to have a large enough ID to fit down over a blank. The number refers to the ID in mm. For most Muskie blanks you'll need to use something like the Fuji TCSD or TDPSD. TCSSD as well.
