longhorn
I've read about this before but don't remember any solutions. I pour swimbaits and use both flat and 3d eyes that are sealed in by dipping the bait in clear plastic like many baits I've seen on here. After a while...say a couple months the plastic seems to melt the pupil on the flat eyes and tends to delaminate the 3d eyes. Has anyone figured out a way to prevent this? BBK
Coat the eyes in a thin layer of epoxy first. This will keep the plastic from touching the eye itself. Any 2 part epoxy will work, thin it out with a drop of water.
robbor
Ive seen a guy on ebay that adds eyes to small tube baits by just putting a dot of black worm plastic, not as nice as prism eyes but more durable. The one bait i dont recall trouble with the eyes is the optimum swimbaits. I dont use swimbaits hardly ever though.
Garneau Baits
Longhorn, use lurecraft clear soft plastic paint. coat the eye socket let it dry, put the 3d eye on then brush some over the eye, dry and dip. the glue reacts to the plastic if you don't do that. tigerfire
Has anyone tried the Seal Coat lure and jig finish? The stuff you coat over jigs. Just wondering if that would work.
