AKFerzy7
I am contemplating purchasing a mold to make football jigs that isnt offered with a weed guard. Does anyone have any experience drilling into the lead after pouring to accomodate a fiber weed guard?

Why don't you mod your mold to accept http://www.jannsnetcraft.com/do-it-mold-parts/410529.aspx I don't think it would be that hard to do. Basseducer
Don't waist your money. You will be better off getting a mold that already takes weedguards. It is easier to block the hole to pour without a weedguard than it is to constantly drill out holes. The lead constantly clogs the smaller bits. JMHO true. but this is a 5/8th oz jig and i cant find a mold like that anywhere with weed guards.
smalljaw
Is this a custom made mold? I'm asking because I haven't seen a 5/8oz football jig and if it a custom mold you may want to spend the extra money and have it machined to accept weedguards. I will tell you that if my options were to use either drill the hole for a weedguard or get a mold that has 1/2oz and 3/4oz cavities with a weedguard, I'd go for the other mold, because even with a vise, drilling into a football jig and not messing the jig up or worse yet, drilling your fingers or hand, will be a mighty hard task. Perhaps you could use a 1/2oz jig with a weedguard and then file of sand a small depression in the head and epoxy a Storm Suspend Dot in to make it a 5/8oz jig, it'll take some work but would be alot easier not to mention safer than drilling. Good luck.
