Follow-up on salt

Recommended Posts

I was wondering how the Fine Alberger salt worked that I read about in an earlier post. I am looking to order some but when I spoke to AL at Harvey Salt he said that the Fine Alberger is th popcorn salt. I have found that popcorn salt clouds the baits when you put anything close to the amount that Yamamoto puts in his. I was thinking maybe to order the regular Alberger but was hoping for some guidence.

Thanks

Chris

Any salt will cloud the bait some, but I found that just regular non-Iodized table salt ran threw a blender works just great.

I grind some up fresh every time I need it as the powdered salt draws mosture real easy. I turn the blender on high as it goes for about 5 min. untill it is like dust. Then I pour 3/4 of a cup of uncooked plastic and add 1/4 cup of salt till the mix is at the 1 cup line. Cook and mix it good and it comes out great! It is still semi-tranparent done this way. Makes a nice fast fall senko type bait.

From the info that I have read I am guessing that the point of using the Alberger salt is because of the properties of the crystals. They are supposed to be lighter then regular salt crystals. I think that I am going to order some of the regular Alberger and see what happens. I will keep you posted.

I know you guys have probably mentioned this a bunch of times, but where do I get some of this salt? I'm interested in giving it a try. I like the popcorn salt, but keeping it mixed is a pain. If the Alberger stays suspended and will make the bait fall at the same rate.......sounds like a winner to me.
