WidowMaker
What is the difference between the Mustad 32798-BLN & 32893-BLN Jig Hooks. Would the difference be the the bend or the allignment of the hook? I can see the 32893-BLN is two dollars higher per 50 count in Barlows. smalljaw
The Mustad 32798 is a 60 degree flat eye extra fine wire jig hook, the 32893 doesn't exist, you got that number wrong so there isn't nothing to compare it to, double check that number so someone can answer your question. Widowmaker, As far as I know they are identical except for the hook bend like in the Barlow's catalog pic. I have the 32798 in stock but I don't have the 32893, so I can't compare wire diameter, hook length or hook eye distance. I called my contact and they said the 32798 is a round bend hook, and the 32893 is an O'Shaughnessy bend hook. I believe O'Shaughnessy was started by Eagle Claw but don't quote me. Hope this helps
smalljaw
Hey cadman, is that 32893 something new? I have a recent Mustad catalog and that hook isn't listed anywhere, I guess I'm behind the times.

Cadman is correct, the 32893 is an O'Shaughnessy bend insteard of a round bend, I guess alot were unhappy with the round bend but I like the round bend because It seems to let my trailers hang straighter, but who am I...Sorry for the wrong answer, lesson learned!!! Smalljaw, No big deal. We're all here to help each other that's why this forum is so good. Everyone pitches in with their knowledge and know-how that's how we all learn. BTW I like the round bend as well for the same reason you mentioned. I just could never get used to the look of the O'Shaughnessy hook. It looks like it's missing something. WidowMaker
I will be using the 32798-BLN Hook in the Do-It Arky Flat Eye Jig. I will be cutting away the ring and flair collar and using epoxy to add a large screw lock in place of the weed guard. This tends to be a good jig to use with four inch tube baits and smaller size creature baits.
