Starting To Pour My Own Tubes

Recommended Posts

I have decided to try pouring my own tube jigs. I can't get a few colors that I want so I will only need a few hundred baits. I was wondering what it would take to get started. Molds, plastics, dipping rods, cutters, paints, glitters, scents. etc. Does anyone know if there are starter kits for this? I 'm willing to invest about $150 to get started. I currently pour my own sinkers, jigs, spinners and flys. I saw Do It has soft plastic melters are they good for making tubes? I only have a lurecraft and jannsnetcraft catalogs. Just wondering if there other companies out there with the same stuff. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You might go to Bears baits web site and check it out. He doesn't have a catalog but does have a bunch of stuff.

Bears injected tube mold will make you happy. No cutting of the tails either. :D

You'll need 5 molds for any type of production work as each is a single cavity. The finished product is" Par excellance" !

For the amount of money you stated, do a search for horizontal tube dipping. Check out Bojon's method of dipping and his 2 cd instructional video. I think it's $25. I believe I bought the first copy sold but lent it to a customer and never got it back. It's great and well worth the money. Then you can take what you have left and easily get everything you need. You mentioned a budget and this is very doable.

If you want to go hand injection, then you can't beat Bear's and you don't have to cut the tails. The tube molds are very ingenious and worth checking out as well.

I have some 4" tube molds from bears (injected), I highly recommend them!! There's no cutting of the tails or anything, just inject and that's it!!
