Tristan
I'm interested in doing some medium to large swimbaits; does anyone have a source for good swimbait molds in the 4 - 10" range? Thanks, Tristan
AlbyDogGone
I made some swimbait masters out of sculpey and they came out greatttt. I am actually going home tonight to pour the resin for the mold. Swimbaits dont seem too hard to mold yourself, my sizes were 2'', 3'', and 6'' and if these turn out well then I am making a 9''. I'll let you know how they come out if you want. Sorry I dont know of any places to get any already made molds, I 've looked all over too and haven't seen what I wanted. Good luck though, I'll post how mine came out... Alby <+><
Tristan
Alby - That sounds great. I was thinking of doing the same thing; but I have a question for you: can you mold the sculpy material in resin? It would seem to be too hard after curing to be able to get it easily out of the mold. I'm going to keep a lookout for a good one to model after; sort of the southern california style is what I'm looking for. Good luck! finlander
I thought I saw some larger ones in the Lurecraft catalog. I just placed my first order with them for a small mold and coloring, so I don't know about the quality yet.
Big Splash
How do you plan to get a hard master like sculpey out of a hard mold like resin? It's my expeience that one of the two must be flexible.
AlbyDogGone
Well I guess your right Big, I had poured a scampi mold the same way before and it came out fine, but this time I had to dig out alot of the sculpey and it was a pain, I did get it though but I am sure there is an easier way. What are good materials to make masters out of for resin molds??? Any ideas or testimonies would be great..thanx Alby <+><
AlbyDogGone
Hey tristan, you could probly just purchase some Big hammers or other types and mold them out of resin, then you could make your own colors and patterns and make as many as you want. just a thought...
