kyratchethead
What type of eye do you inline spinner makers prefer - the full circle eye made with a wire tool or the half-circle eye made with needle nose pliers? I make both and as a matter of personal preference I like the half-circle eye myself. It seems I get less line wrapped around an inline spinner made with the half-circle eye. How about all you other wire twisters out there?
kyratchethead
Looks like we wire twisters is an endangered species!
pirkfan
I make the full circle eyes, I suppose because they look more like the "professionally manufactured" lures I'm trying to emulate. Truth be told, half round is at least as good, and you don't have to fork out extra bucks for a set of round nose pliers (who doesn't have a pair of needle nose pliers around?). I learned to make eyes after reading "Modern Tacklecraft" by C. Boyd Pfeiffer, and he apparently was a "full round" fan, I don't think he even mentioned that you could just use the ol' needle nose. Fernet
Yes I belive we are endagered. I prefere the round ones for the same reason as above but I do think you are right about the line twisting more. I have'nt experienced it but my logic(!) tells me so. ROWINGADUBAY
I use both. But when I am using big blades I found the half circle is much better especially when used with a keel weight hidden under the skirt of the buck tail I make sure the line tie and the keel weight are in alignment and I can get almost no line twist even when making big double bladed spinners
crawdaddy
I prefer the half circle myself. The old Shyster spinners have a good eye for decreasing line twist, to make it you just have to make one more bend before making the final wraps around the shaft.
