flyingcross
Just wanted to give my two cents on how to acquire a microwave oven to heat plastic for pouring. I have three kids in college and had to furnish their apartments with furniture, kitchen utensils etc. I did it all by shopping garage sales. Two weeks ago I found a Sharps Microwave oven which was still packaged in the original box. The owner had used it during the deer season at their deer camp and was giving up his lease. I paid $20.00 for virtually a brand new microwave. I have bought two or three others at garage sales and normally pay $10.00 to $20.00. I make the owners heat up a cup of water to ensure it works. Beats ebay or Craigs list hands down. Thanks to everyone for the information they share on this site. Hope this helps someone. Regards, Pat

But, it is one of the old analog dial types with no power settings but it works great.
Piscivorous Pike
It must be the time of year to be buyin' microwaves. You and I had the same ideas this week, just posted this too: Really A Bargain Melting Machine! $10 mircro waves and quite a few at that! Got one 1400 watts. Found them in Craigslists, most are at the lower wattage. I was really surprise that there were so many and even more at $15 and $20. Many are college students that are dumping theirs at the semester end. I think the slow economy is pushing the price down. I intend to stack them, so I can have various colors and amounts heating at the same time. $10 to heat up the plastic is cheap compared to the molds and even the plastic. BTW - this hobby is not very expensive anyway and most enjoyable. Edited February 4, 2010 by Piscivorous Pike
