cadman
They all drip when they are fully heated up. You are going to have to be more specific, so everyone can help you. Questions: Is it drip from a cold start? You said it doesn't pour, is this after it gets hot? Is the pot really hot? Is the lead melted? What number do you have it set on the dial? Is there something stuck on the bottom of the pouring hole? There are many variables here as you can see.

If not what type of lead are you melting. Sounds like something is blocking the hole. Your plunger is attached to the lever that opens the gate up to pour. Jig Man
You probably have cruddy lead that has some stuff partly blocking the hole. If you have a propane torch, heat up the tip for a few seconds (with something to catch the lead) then open the spout. Most of the time that will allow the gunk to flow out. toadfrog
Well thats whats to weird to me the lead im using Says its 99.9% lead i get it online and sometimes at basspro. ive heard a lot about the impurities in lead and i was wondering what exactly includes Like the guys said its hard to tell whats really happening. But try this first before you do anything else. Plug up the pot. Set the pot on 3 then in 15 min. set it to 6 then set it to 9after 10 min. When you go from 0 to nine at the start cold lead will float the pour gate spindle and allow drips. If the lead is ready it will be completly liquid and not crusty on the sides. Also it should have color sheens when slightly stired. Once you whip this problem remember that every mold has a temp. zone it works best at. you don't always have to have max heat. JBlaze
Ok well i got my 1st lead melter last week and after useing it for a little bit (like 12 jigs) it just start to drip and it wont pour ive tried everything the directions said to but it keeps dripping so i returned it and got a new one and once again got the same deal!?!? what do i do or what am i doing wrong Hey Josh, thats really strange with a new pot and pure lead. I have this problem occasionally but I use wheel weights which I have melted, skimmed and fluxed. I get the occasional impurity that blocks my pouring spout. the only solution that I have is to drain the pot and clean it. I think the next time this happens, I will give Jig Mans method a try. You probably would want to put a cookie sheet under the spout to catch the lead when doing this and wear protective clothing, gloves and safety goggles. It will probably spatter when it hits the pan. I know how aggravating and frustrating this problem is. Give me a holler, We'll have a look at it. John
