charkins
Just wanted to tell the success of my latest soft plastic and give the formula in case anyone is interested. I bought a Lurecraft Senko nockoff mold and used their 502 plastic. The formula below produced 25 bass between 2 and 5 pounds in one afternoon. Pretty good fishing for an old man. I give all of the credit to the bait. 2 oz. Lurecraft Plastisol 502 2 drops red color 8 drops white color dropperful of heat stabilizer 1/2 oz of fine salt 1/4 teaspoonful of silver glitter
Mercury
I was wondering if and why red/white mixture couldnt be done for pink. I used slightly diffrent mix, but close. 6 oz 536, 5 drops red, 10 white, mix BEFORE cooking. and this is how it turned out.
alsworms
Nice color Mercury. I can get close to that effect with a touch of red or TONS of MF Flo. Pink, but the guy who ordered from me wanted a brilliant bumble gum; kind of an "eye shattering" BRIGHT pink, instead of a fleshy pink. Well I say "pink is pink"......if they eat bubble gum, they'll tear up flesh pink too.
Mercury
I still want to know why i had catfish attracked to it. But I will say my PT got one hell of a work out! I thought I had that bass of a life time on it. I was dissapointed with no bass, but it could have been worse.
Big Splash
It's hard to tell for sure, but your color looks like ABC gum. Those pinks you guys are working on would be right at home on the steelhead streams here in B.C.
Mercury
I dont know how close mine was to charkins, But I would like to see what his looked like. How about a pic charkins?
Fireball Lures
Well I'm not sure if this is what you are looking for Al but here is what I have left over from the pour I did last week for my Pro staff guys is this the pink you're looking for? If so email me and I'll see if I can get you in the ball park. Nathan Fireball Lures http://www.fireball-lures.com
charkins
Well, here is the picture. Not the best picture in the world. It is a little more pink than the picture shows. Anyway, the bass sure liked it.
Mercury
Hey thats not bad with the silver glitter in it. Good job. Is that the 5 1/4" or the 4" mold?
alsworms
Fireball....... you can't get much brighter than that That's exactly what I'm looking for. I made some close to that, but I used WAY too much color. Just wasn't worth it to me. Now if I could use Lure Craft's I think I'd be okay. Their color is so much more concentrated. alsworms
Made this one today; just fartin' around. Sure is an awful picture Just can't get pink to work with my camera..... Anywhooo.......I added a little red flake, and threw in a purple vein. Still not quite the pink I'm lookin' for, but Oh Well.......... Delw
Hey al you wanna see some cool colors goto a crafts mart and get the candle dies.. they have about every color you can think of.. Ive been playing with them for a while now and they look good with no bleeding... Ive used the dyes in liquid and solids with the same results Delw
alsworms
Hey Del, I have heard about guys using the candle dyes. Will definitely have to check it out. We have a craft store just a few blocks away. Thanks for the info
Delw
Some of the candle dye's are very concentrated and dont take much... The one thing that I found is that it leaves a greasy film on the pyrex when I use it in the microwave. but it dont on the worms or on your fingers when you pic up the worms... Delw
chirmy
The candle dye also changes the density of your worm. It makes them heavier.
alsworms
Chirmy, Does it work as good as salt? Chris
chirmy
Chris, I would never replace salt and I beleive the salt is still heavier. I bought turqoise wax dye before and it made the bait different. its cheap stuff and you can get it at michaels.
alsworms
Thanks for the info Chirmy. I went to our Michael's over the weekend and bought a bunch of dyes. Now I need to find the time to mess with 'em. Chris
redg8r
Alright! Glad to hear you guys are havin success with the gel dyes. Thats what I'm usin, the only other "con" I can think of is color variety. (besides the residue in the pyrex) The only colors I can find are the 3 primary, but hey some mixin & you can get alot of shades. they work great for transparent colors & the yellow by itself makes a pretty pleasing chartreuse. The minnows I poured in the silicone tutorial here were colored with only candle dye. I use 2 different brands & one has a dropper bottle & the other is an open neck bottle, well I picked up the wrong bottle & turned it upside down & "plomp" the whole bottle of blue dye in about 6 ounces of plastic  lol, I grabbed a bottle of MF silver & added in enough to get a decent irridescent out of the mistake........wanna see This lil batch of oops did have some bleeding, eXpected from the huge amount of blue......hey, Stop laughing
alsworms
HOLY COW - I'll take an "oops" like that anyday VERY NICE
charkins
Hey Gator, The blue baits look great! My question is, do you think you can duplicate that color now . Just teasin, but the baits are cool. Cal
Delw
Red I have some f-ups like that as well.... one that even works and I have tried but cant duplicate it at all... Delw
