fisheye56
This was my first season {winter time bait} season almost gone, we had no idea the success we would have. The little store that had everything to do with me getting started...gave me a heads-up for next year, that I will need to put bar codes on my packages. Went on-line and there are machines that do that....300+ what have you had to do in this situation? What have you found in your journey into the business world? wildtail97
I think that if you know what barcode type you need you can do it yourself on this site http://www.barcoding.com/upc/ basically you can download numbers (each on specific to each bait/color) or however you want to do it then take the downloaded .png file and put it into Microsoft Word or some kind of template program that you can print out labels on. Buy your labels to fit and stick them on. I know there are cheap and maybe free ways of doing it, I think this is one though I have not used it. If you want to try something free there are several bar code extensions/plugins for OpenOffice. If you don't know, OpenOffice is a free package of software that is pretty much the same as Microsoft Office which is FAR from free. Here is just one of the bar code extensions http://extensions.services.openoffice.org/en/project/barcode. You can download OpenOffice at http://openoffice.org. I don't use the bar code stuff but I have used OpenOffice and it is quite capable of doing most anything you need. Hey, it's free so if it doesn't work for you, nothing is lost! JSC
If you have a set of BAR CODE FONTS you are in business (can be purchased) ... if it is for an in house operation you can use what ever ... Example your stk # is 9911-01 .... you would type it using Bar Code Font, print label, scan and the Bar Code reader will read it as such. ... the bar code reader is just another "Input" device (ex. = Keyboard). Just 2 cents worth JSC
