Paid For, Undelivered, Now What?

Recommended Posts

This custom mold maker collects $ up front, so I ordered and paid for 3 molds in Nov. 2008. Nope, thats not a typo! He has not replied to my last 4 emails. Thought maybe his business tanked, but his website was updated this month. Any one else had a similar problem, & suggestions?

Not sure what to say. That's a long time to let it go. Do you have a phone number for him? If so, give him a call and explain your case.

guess it all depends on how much money you spent. if it were enough i would probably take him to court. where i live its only 65.00 to sue someone. all you would have to do is prove you paid him for items and they were never received. The only thing here is you only have 2 years to file. Good luck

If it is the company I think it is, thier customer service is absolutely the worst. I asked for a standard mold and I wanted a custom made also a couple years ago. They quoted me a price and cashed the check. I waited several months without a peep and no response to emails. I finally got them to respond. I nixed the custom mold and got them to send the standard mold with a refund of my additional money. I felt very lucky to get everything straight but I refuse to take the chance on trying again. I will say the mold I did get was/is great but the rest of the experience soured me on any additional business. Too bad, I'd do more but just can't. Must be so busy that future business means nothing to them. Sorry you are on the losing end of the stick. I'd send him emails every day and call also.

Hawn,

I have a feeling I know who you are talking about as well. It is sad that a person can not live up to his dead lines. If you can't meet your deadlines don't take orders until you can get caught up or hire someone to help you out. It would be nice to let everyone know who he is, but that is so wrong in so many ways. Many guys know who he is and yet they continue to go to him. I have heard that if you get a mold it is flawless like EironBreaker mentioned. But how long does this have to go on. His quality is excellent, his prices are not cheap, but he can not deliver, doesn't return phone calls or e-mails and if he does ship it's so late that most guys just cancel or are just plain p****d off at him. That's a hell of a way to run a business and treat your customers. I bite my tongue every time I want to buy a mold from him and I have not yet. I guess like someone mentioned depends how much money you have tied up in this. I guess if it were me, I would sue, reason being is that this will continue until he finally gets slapped in the face. At this point it may not be about money (maybe yes) it's about the principal of the whole matter. Let us know what happens.

I won't publicly identify a problem party, but many of you might have figured. Thanks for the replies, I will try calling, but have heard that will only result in an unanswered message. Will also investigate suing for recovery of the $500 or so. Yes, pursuing legal action would be mostly on principal, tho $500 is a bite of profits for a home bizness. Not sure how a party 6,000 miles distant that avoids communication can be served, since registered mail is probably a red flag.

The mold maker emailed mid-summer he was working on my molds, & since he had delivered previous 3 mold custom lots eventually, I patiently waited. At the 1 yr. "anniversary" in Nov. I started sending friendly email inquiries every month and now have 4 unanswered.

Hey Sonny, nice to see you back onboard.

Keith

Just cruising around to see what you and Cadman are up to…..

You’re gonna be sick. Ordered a UL Chub mold 1/32nd & 1/64th, recessed 2mm eyes, 10 cavities on each side 2 weeks ago and got it yesterday. Ordered another mold last Friday – confirmed on Monday and it is here today!!!!!!! Check out crazyanglertackle.com – he posts a lot on CDC. PMs, emails, and he even calls you – can’t get any better.

Tried ordering 3 molds from our friend got a quote and tried to pay with a credit card and could never get a hold of him. Didn’t answer emails and his message box is always full.

Check him out.

Hasta

He is on the east coast... can't remember the state, maybe Virginia. I always defended him, but he has one of my masters for a custom and I can't get ahold of him, I am a little pizzed to, at least I am not out money though

If you decide to file charges start here: http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx

Fatman

Yes, he's in Virginia. I too always defended him and advised patience when customers complained on forums about long wait times.

Why is no one telling us who it is. If it were me his name would be plastered all over the place for beyond bad business practice. I dont know I guess people like seeing others complain when they get screwed by him... If this is his way of taking care of customers then he should be outted for this. So nobody else gets stuck in your shoes.. Just my opinion. I know i would hate to make an order and then months down the road all of a sudden im on here posting about the same problem ,,,,,When it could have been avoided. Cause from what I know makes me not want to order anything from anyone on the east coast. Which I feel isnt right for the legit sellers on that side of this Great country

Hoghunter,

I understand how you feel and many people would re-act the way you would like. The way to handle this is to PM the person who posted this thread and ask him. He may or may not tell you who this person is. The person who posted this handled this very professionally. No matter what the circumstances are, it is not really a good idea to bash anyone or company on an open forum. It is bad business and unless you have all the details it can get you in trouble. Every situation is different with every person. There are many people that have ordered from him and have nothing but good things to say, while others ordered things and were forgotten about with no calls back or acknowledgment. So like I said for whatever reason every situation is different. It's not up to me or anyone else to prejudge him unless you have an issue with the person in question. If you do than you address it with that person. I don't want to sound like an a$$, as I do agree with you on certain aspects, but forum bashing even with vendors is usually not tolerated on many sites.

Like "cadman" says, I'll identify the party I have a problem with via PM. I want take the opportunity to apologise if in the past anyone took my recommendation concerning this mold maker and got into the same situation I'm in.

"Fatman", my experience is that filing with ic3, FTC, BBB, etc. can't really help in a small dispute like this. Distance from HI to VA is a significant obstacle. There are more drastic options possibly available, and I'll post the outcome if I take those steps.

I also ordered from this guy and never received anything. Luckily I never sent him any money. I'll never do business with him again. He makes great molds (from what I have seen) but I think he must have some serious problems. I'd like ti have some of his standard molds, but it isn't worth the aggravation.

I would have to say if that guy I think your talking about ripped me off I would go Nucking Futs :o I am thinking about getting a jig mold cut and I seen that on http://www.del-mart.com/shop/home.php?cat=394 he makes jig molds and bear will be making jig molds soon also.

So I would rather send work to somebody that will return my calls and emails.

Luckily, a forum member informed me that the Virginia mold maker was apparently back in bizness and answering emails. To the point, finally got my molds delivered last week. Quality is the usual extraordinary, up a notch maybe - no doubting the mold makers talent & skill, hope the customer service remains reasonable.

Thanks to "CHAMPION-206" for the heads up!!

Keith,

I'm glad you got this resolved without going to the other extreme solution. I know people have problems and family issues, but going on 2 years is ridiculous. I really have a hard time forgiving and forgetting(just me I guess). Based on what I know, you and many others were getting no return phone calls, no return e-mails, no nothing period. That is just plain wrong and I can't forgive someone who has no concern for others when he is the one with the problem. You just don't up and leave and keep everyone hanging when you want, and come back and think everything will be alright. Sorry to vent but I just had to. Happy pouring and glad your molds are up to par at least the quality hasn't gone down.

"cadman", yes, I was upset enuf to research revenge options - figured the $ was gone but I could still initiate criminal investigation for larceny in-state and wire fraud at the fed level. Was about ready to go, but while pouring one of the mold maker's masterpieces realized how fortunate I was to have it, and reading online he was recuperating from back surgery decided to chill and let it go. Glad I did.
