ipt
i find running a super fine salt makes them tougher than a yami, also adding even as little salt as you did to a med plastic will make it stiffer than a yami. i have managed to just about match yami's flexability and weight (weighed on a digital scale) using 3 cups Calhoun soft, 1 cup super fine salt, 1/4 cup softener. gotta bring this topic back to life... ive been trying to get a good formula with different types of plastic. i cant see how 3 cups soft to 1 cup salt would give you the weight of a senko.... ive been doing 2:1 plastic to salt and my senkos are still lighter than the regular gyb senkos. his senkos are about 10.5 grams, mine are 10 grams with 2:1 salt. not that i use senkos anymore, but i have a few friends who want me to make senkos for them so im still looking for the best way to do it. Bass-Boys
well your getting close.. use your 2:1 but bump the salt up just a touch. if its to firm add a touch of softner. should have it !!
MonteSS
Real Senko 10.86g Del's mold (very close to real Senko size)Pickling salt 11.51g (4 heaping tbsp per 8 oz Calhouns + 2 tbsp softner)Bears powdered salt 10.80g (4 heaping tbsp per 8 oz Calhouns + 2 tbsp softner)CCM HDS 11.15g (4 level tbsp per 8 oz medium Calhouns) If I am correct. 4 tblsp is 1/4 cup of salt per 1 cup plastic. I have no idea how you guys use 2:1 (1/2 cup per 1 cup plastic. Try the CCM HD additive. Using medium plastic and no softener, the baits come out softer than a real Senko and 20x more durable. ....Bill Edited January 7, 2013 by MonteSS
ipt
Haha what am I doing wrong? I've made senkos with soft, medium and softener. 2 parts plastic to 1 part salt is still coming up short of 10g. It seems like tons of salt but I need the weight

patrick reif
I use 2.5 cups soft Calhouns plastic, add softener until I don't want to, and top off with salt til I'm satisfied it would give me higher blood pressure to breathe the fumes. Sticks I don't put much thought into. Chunks are about the same. I use a heavier gauge hook with any deadstick bait, and I use jigs with chunks. Both help sink rate more than salt will. Swimbaits I get anal about. Any mold that has extreme appendages I take precautions with. A stick is just a stick...pour it or shoot it, top it off when the top caves in, and de-mold when it's cool enough to do so. I only fish with my baits. I may swap, but I never sell. I prefer to swap for an all day long boat ride...just for the record. Unless you're going into business, don't over think this thing. It's not worth it
