cadman
I have to start this off by saying I have bought a lot of molds over the years from the top 5 catalog places around. I'm not going to mention them because most of you know who they are. One I still have issues with as far as shipping costs go but that doesn't matter, It's just that I don't like hidden surprises or agendas. Anyway I just bought 3 Do-It molds and some release spray (more on this in a new thread) from a place I never heard of until recently. Zeiner's. http://zeiners.com/index1.html Maybe you guys already buy from them, but this was my first experience. All I can say was the customer service, pricing, and shipping was fantastic. There mold prices are cheaper than anyone I've seen, there shipping charges are very reasonable with no hidden agendas, and there customer service was very courteous and understanding. I called Jim Zeiner on a Tuesday to place my order, everything was in stock except 2 molds. Jim told me that the molds would be in on Thursday. No bigee. Come Friday at 3:00 pm I had my entire order at the door complete. No missing parts, no back orders, no BS. On my packing slip, Jim apologized for the two molds being out of stock. I just can't believe that some of the other catalog companies can't follow this example. I'm sure they are bigger than Zeiner's. Needless to say, If you haven't tried Zeiner's for you molds and other supplies definitely give them a call. It is well worth it to do business with a company like this. Call me a very satisfied customer.
Ogajiga
I've bought a bunch of Do-its from Zeiner's and also applaud their family run business customer service. When Do-it switched from color coded handles to all black, their quality slipped and many newer black handle molds had ruff textured cavity faces which resulted in sticking castings. Zeiner's was able to provide me some older better quality IMO orange and blue color handle molds.

There old color coding/pricing system had much smoother cast molds. Many of their new cast molds are rough on the surface like you mentioned. Too bad the good old days won't be back anytime soon. I spoke to a machinist, and showed him some of Do-IT's cast molds. His suggestion was to take some jeweler's rouge on a small pointed buffing tip and polish out the cavities. I've tried this on an Arky jig mold, and doing this does make smoother faces, however this is extremely time consuming. A Dremel, pointed buffing tip and jeweler's rouge is not something I want to do to about 100 molds x umpteen cavities x two mold halves. clamboni
Thanks for the link cadman, I like the prices on the molds I'm sorry I didn't do a longer search for molds in the past. I buy all my molds from zeiner's unless they're used from someone. Prices are far better than anywhere else I've found.

customstixs
I just work 4 blks from the store. You won't find anyone finer to deal with than Jim Zeiner. Also if you fish for catfish they sell tons of Sony's stink bait. I've seen guy's come in and buy 50 lb pails of that stinky stuff. They also have alot of hard to find lures. You can't go wrong buying from them. Cadman now you know why I'm alway's broke.

I try not to look back in time, but go back about 35 - 40 years and I think most of the ma and pa stores new everything about what they carried or took an interest in what their store sold. They had to because knowledge and answers to questions was key to staying in business. I try to support those small stores because most of them are long gone and they still hold the key to a lot of local information. If I lived as close as you do to them, I would definitely spend some time perusing their shelves to see what is new, along with probably buying more than I need. It's really nice to call up a store, get a person to talk to, and being able to speak to someone that takes an interest in your order and what you have to say. I want to get a 64 oz round collarless mold but for some reason thats the only link on that page I cant click on? JJ Joe, I checked it as well and he doesn't have his info linked to the site. If you need spec info go to Do-It molds and they will have all of that. Once you have all the correct mold numbers, call up Jim at Zeiner's and tell him his link won't work also he will give you a price right over the phone or via e-mail. He is definitely customer oriented, and will give you all the info you need. 1st class all the way. Edited March 21, 2010 by cadman

I don't know if you phone your orders in or order on line, but I always phone my orders in and ask questions. I ordered 3 molds, two were out of stock and I received my entire order on Friday complete.

Razorworm
Lived in Wichita for 6 years. Great people to work with. Helped me get started. Many of the smaller tackle shops in KS/ MO/ and AR are the best to deal with by phone for prices. Here is another to call for supplies: Mertens Bait and Tackle - Jefferson City, MO google them and give them a call. They have all the old molds too.
