.dsaavedra.
here is the bait i tried it out on: everything is just how i want it except the stripes. i just wish they weren't so clean and well...stenciled looking. i also wish i did them in black (lightly, more like gray) instead of brown, but i can live with brown stripes. i think i may turn my pressure way down so it barely sprays and just kinda fuzz over the stripes to see if that adds any depth or realism to them. if not, i'll clear it and fish it because i'm sure the fish won't mind if it has stenciled stripes
StrykerLures
What about using Construction paper? Some Brands of those are pretty tough. If someone does use construction paper for the Stencil, let me know how it turns out!

largemouth
i like using clear plastic so i can see exactly where on the bait i'm painting, i wipe the wet paint off the stencil after each stripe. I have had good luck using clear three ring binder dividers sold at the local grocery stores and cvs for cutting out stencils. They are flexible enough to fold around lures if needed but also stiff enough for what you are looking for. I think if you punched a bunch of small holes close together in the line shape you wanted, you could get the look you are going for, or maybe cut the line shape you want then tape some fine mesh over that and spray through the mesh?? Just throwing around some ideas.

Cooney
good call. i was thinking of putting mesh over the bait, but putting the mesh right on the stencil would break it up even more and make it look more natural. If you stretch out a thin layer of a cotton ball over thestencil it'll give it the soft look your after
kelly
Two other things that you can try that i have used is. Find some netting used as scale panting (netting) material then lay it flat on a peace of wax paper(this will help it release latter). get some silicone, I use the auto stuff thats used for gaskets. Paint it on the netting with a brush leaving what you want painted uncovered and leaving a few random dots open for the paint to pass threw. Let it dry and remove from the wax paper then clean the wax off with alcohol so the wax will not mess with your paint. clamp it on and spray two colors that are close to each other to make it more life like. The second is take your milk carton or paper and put it on a peace of foam. Start punching holes with a couple things. Nails, pins, knife or any thing you can think of and use that as a stencil. I have used riped paper and liked it. but so simple I have not used riped tape used tape but not ripped tape so simple I walked right past it.
