Hookset
Hi Guys, I just made some basic swim baits modeled after an MS Slammer stype bait. Only problem is I have to buy the tails right now and was looking to either make a mold myself or buy one to pour my own. I figure they're very basic as far as a pour goes but I'm still a novice and don't have a clue as to how to make a mold. Here are the baits I'd be looking to put the tails on....... I tried using the search field to find some mold making advice but didn't have any luck. Thanks in Advance! Mike
Frank
For the type bait you are modeling after I would just buy an open pour mold from someone like lure craft and pour it then cut off the tails. They have many of that type bait molds. If you want to make your own,I just carve it out of wood and seal, prime and sand. then cast a one piece rtv mold out of it. I am trying to upload pics but it has an error. If you want pm me your email and I will send you the pics of what I do. It is not that hard and the results can be real pleasing. Frank Hi Frank, Tried to PM you but it said you can't receive new messages......? Here's another shot at posting what I made......I'd be up for carving a tail to make a mold out of no problem at all......just not sure of the steps to use in the casting process......would love any pointers you can send.
