Elken
I put a set of Recoil spinning guides on a dropshot rod a couple years ago. The bottom guide developed a tendency to rotate left or right under the thread wraps, so I figured that I must not have wrapped the thread tight enough. I cut the epoxy and thread off and found that the wire had broke at the very end of the "toe" of the guide foot; I had filed it down to make a nice smooth ramp for the thread and evidently filed it too thin. If I clamp the two halves together, the guide does not rotate; if I try to wrap them as is, they twist and allow the guide to rotate. My question is: Can I silver solder the nickel-titanium guide material? Or is there a better way to re-connect the two halves of the guide foot before I re-wrap it? I can buy a new guide, but the larger Recoils aren't cheap and I am on a budget...
