mainbutter
The title asks it all. I've been thinking it might be a killer "dying minnow" presentation with some skinnier swimbaits. I'm going to try it once bass season rolls around.
Pitbull Baits
The title asks it all. I've been thinking it might be a killer "dying minnow" presentation with some skinnier swimbaits. I'm going to try it once bass season rolls around. I tried it but had no luck. It might of been because it was really late in the year. I did have luck putting one on a shakey head. Piscivorous Pike
No luck on wacky hooking them, swim baits, but did some what OK on wacky rigging long tailed jerk baits, basically flukes. BUT... Mid '90's In-Fisherman began experimenting hooking swim baits sideways on jigs with skirts, (bass jigs) for esox, (pike and musky). That works even for bass. I have been hooking them sideways and jerk baits sideways on jigs, bass jigs and plain swim bait hooks so the predominant action movement is up and down not side to side. That works on flukes and swimbaits very well. I think you are correct in that it is a dying minnow action. I made a 9 inch jerk fluke that the tail is sideways, horizontal because of the In-Fisherman results. When retrieved with a rod tip twitch this FRANKEN MINNOW (what I call it) has a tail shank that moves up and down, like a porpoise and it turned out to be a real pike killer in my favorite pike waters. In two weeks I plan to experiment with it and smaller similiar jerk flukes in bass water doing the same thing.
