atrophius
I was looking around the site for through bait wire techniques. i know there is a tutorial, but the pics dont show up in the thread for me. So I am making lures with two 1/4" pieces of wood that are temporarily glues to shape etc, etc... What is a good method to make space for the through wire? I tried to clamp the halves in a vise to make the wood conform to the wire, but it is basswood and it doesnt compress to the shape of the wire. So I need to cut in the grooves I think, anyone know of a good way to do all this? The only power tool I own is a dremel btw hehe.
jamie
if a dremels all you have then make the groove with a cutting wheel. You can stack two wheels if you need a wider groove.
BobP
I trace the outline of the wire form with a Sharpie pen on one side and then groove it with a pointed Dremel cutting bit. Put a little paint on the wire frame and press the halves together to show you where you need to remove material from the other half. If you plan to do a large number of identical baits, it's easier to build a nail form to guide how you bend the wire frames and a template to indicate where the interior surfaces of the bait need to be grooved.
