Screw Locs

Recommended Posts

i am looking for the screw locs like on a picasso shaky head! they are closer to a spring than a lock. they are made out of .023 wire and are .095 wide wrap. any ideas???

I just make 'em. Take a piece of tig wire (or other suitable rod sized around 0.050 or a little bigger), and clamp the end of some .024 stainless to it with a pair of vise grips (I like the needle nose kind). Now start wrapping the stainless around the rod by twisting the vise grips and using your thumb to hold the wire against the rod....forming a coil like a spring....it';s very easy and you can wrap as long a piece as you want. Once you're satisfied with the length, cut off the extra wire. You now have a SS spring. Take ahold of each end of the spring with needle nose pliers and stretch it until the loops have the distance between them you want. Cut off a piece about as long as the screw lock you want, and with the needle nose pliers, bend the first loop of the "spring" vertical to the coil (this becomes your attachment loop). If this doesn't make sense, I can post pictures

You may want to look at this, it is easy to make and easy to use. I have made them with .016 all the way up to .035 spring stainless using this tool. I have found that .022 is works out the best for my use. You can get the stainless wire at most all of the tackle building supply catalogs. Barlows, Netcraft, Lure Parts etc.

Hope this helps.
