markw
Rookie question here: I'm new to skirt making and just picked up some roles of round rubber to build large muskie skirts. I'm trying to determine the best method of blending 2 colors. Do your leave the rubber in tact and lay one color on top of the other, then band-stretch-snip? Or do you cut to length, pull the strands apart, blend the individual colors by hand, then slip through a skirt tool to put the band on? Jig Man
If you try to pull them apart you will get one bait made every 37 days. I cut my rubber to the length I want + 1/2 inch. I normally use 1 tab of the base color and 1/2 tabs of what ever else I want. I put them on the jighead and wire them in place. Then I pull them out and cut off 1/4" of each section. markw
Thanks Jigman. I assumed that was the case, but I wasn't sure. I was struggling while using an old pen to make a banded skirt. I plan to pickup one of those tools that looks like a flat pair of split ring pliers this weekend. Your advice and that tool will help with the process. Only wrap twice, pull tags hard and twist snug to hold... Then I hand strip the strips into 3 parts, stretch and cut.
