DDSBYDAY
What do I use to soot my molds? Hope "soot" is the right word? Thanks... Just hold a candle underneath it close to the mold. It covers easily. I pour hundreds of jigs and see no reason to do this. There is mold release available if you are having trouble removing the jigs from your molds. I use soft lead for easy casting. I was told to use wooden matches, will that be ok too? Do I hold the candle so that way the flames are touching the mold?
MuskyGary
I was told to use wooden matches, will that be ok too? Do I hold the candle so that way the flames are touching the mold? I would try making some jigs without using anything. I very seldom have any trouble getting the jig out of the mold. Using soft lead helps. cadman
EWG, I have never sooted my molds as I never found that to help. However I have found something that does work exceptionally well for molds. It is used by bullet makers, it is called Drop Out by Frankford Arsenal. I should of used this years ago. Once you use this you will not use anything else. here is a link http://www.opticsplanet.net/printable-frankford-arsenal-6-oz-drop-out-aerosol-763758.html I bought mine at Zeiner's as they were the cheapest.
