Cub48
Has anyone used Hard As Nails to paint jig heads it comes in alot of colors and has a brush in it. Also if you want to clear coat they have that too. Just trying to find something cheap and easy that does a good job. Cub48
GDille
I did this for a while, but it got to bee too time consuming, and made my boxes stink. I painted with the nail polish, then cleared it with the hard as nails. It is durable, just maybe not the quickest, or cheapest choice. Wal-Mart has some spray epoxy paint that I really liked, 2 coats. I comes in black and white, you might look into some CS coating seal-coat. its is quick and easy to clean up, and from my experience pretty durable. Thanks, George
cadman
Cub, I would agree with Gdille. I started about 7 years ago with nail polish. Yes it is durable, and it does smell. I don't think it's as durable as powder paint though, and you can't do multicolor worth a darn with nail polish. If you want more info on powder paint PM me and I can give you some tips. Peterjay
Just to add my $.02 worth: I used to use nail polish on shad darts, but it had a tendency to chip when bounced along the bottom. The darts had a very short life expectancy anyway, due to rocks, snags, etc., so it didn't matter much. For anything that you expect to last more than 15 minutes, just about all the alternatives are better. Sally Hansen products are as good as it gets when it comes to covering thread wraps on flies and jigs, but that's about it.
