Jackall Bluegill Color

I've been having a hard time matching the base color in Jackall's flick shake worm in bluegill color. Can anyone help me with this? I got the gold, blue and blake flake, but the base color is just baffling me. Looks like a blueish smoke color and I just can't seem to nail it.

From all the pics that I've seen on the web it looks like the base is smoke, the blue flake may be giving it a blue hue?

The last time I made it I did add two drops of blue and ten drops black to one cup of plastic. Pretty sure on that,the only reason I am not real sure is cause after half the cup was gone he wanted salt added. Then I had to add alot more black. I did see the blue in it also. Hope this helps Frank

Thanks for the replies guys. But I still can't get it. This color is making me pull my hair out!!! I've got a tons of worm that are close but not there yet. The closest I've come is a couple drops of black to 1/2 once of plastic and then the flake blue, gold, black. But the bait is too clear. If I add blue it's too blue. The Jackall bait is tranlucent but cloudy looking with a slight tint of really dark dark blue or grayish blue. I don't really know and it's now driving me nuts!!!

I NEED AN EXPERT TO TRY TO HELP ME OUT ON THIS! ANYONE?????

I am not an epert but in 1/2 oz of plastic it is pretty hard to get a small amount of blue to match the ratio. In a larger batch there is more room for slight color changes. Frank

That's why I use 4 oz. as my base for all my recipies; including my experiments.

Thanks again. It's hard to mess up a bigger batch of plastic though. And isn't 4 ozs 1/2 a cup? I might try a larger batch and see if that helps, but I just wanted to see if anyone has one of these baits and can look at it and try to help. I've been staring at this bait for so long now, it hurts.

I do have this exact bait in my copy color box. It is my friends favorite color. And when I matched it you could not tell where the original is in the order. I added a small amount of orange flake just to see if he would notice. He did and liked the suttle differance. So I am going off the actual bait not a pic on the internet. Frank

Ok great, so another question then. Did you add salt? These baits are salt impregnated right? Maybe that's where I'm going wrong. Also, which brands of color are you using? Thanks Frank.

No they are not salt impregnated. They are between soft snd medium plastic. I use mf plasticand on this color I used lc black and mf blue to get that color. If you add salt you will need to add alot more color. Oh and I am talking about the flick shake worm. You know I have worked in a body shop for almost 30 yrs and making colors is a real art so I talk like it is easy but to me it is. Toners and bases are just second nature to me. Most of the time if I have to match a color it takes me 15 to 20 minutes. And I usually dont right it down. But there is a few that I do and this is one. As for the amount of plastic it truely is easier to make a large amount because it takes more to screw up the color. When you use your colors make sure you shake them up real well so it is always consistant. I am guessing you dont have any of these at your disposal. I just sent Amistad tackle the last ones I had done. Or i would send you some with the color recipe. When I get home tomorrow I will look for what I have and let you know. Hope this helps Frank

Thanks again.....I read on another site that they were salt impregnated. I have one flick shake worm that a buddy gave me that I'm using for reference. I'm using LC black and lc blue. Tried that and MF blue crawfish. Unfortunately I don't have the MF blue. I actually cut the worm a little an tasted it to see if I tasted salt and I didn't. So after reading it had salt I wondered. I also looked at Bear's colors and thought the black grape color looked similar to what I see in the bait. Anyway, thanks for your help Frank. I'm gonna go try a bigger batch and see what happens.

Funny thing that you tasted it cause i do it to but on mine only. I would have bet you that it was not salted. With a larger batch you will have more control of the color. Be gentle with the blue it dont take much. Let me know if you get it. One other thing I thought of is watch the temp of the plastic and dont let it get to high cause if it yellows it will throw off the color. Frank

I'm so close it's ridiculous. But I just don't have the right colors on hand. I'm probably close enough to where in won't make a difference to the fish, but now it's just a matter of principle. I want to figure it out so bad. I might go on a spending spree on different blue's and purple's just to try to figure this out. I keep trying different things and coming up with the same hues, but not the one in the jackall worm.
