For Those Who Use Rtv

Recommended Posts

For those of you that have used RTV to make a mold. In your best guess, how many 2" wide by 3.125" long by 1.5" thick molds could I get from 1lb of RTV.

Is this a test?

try this link My link

Is there is nothing taking up space in this mold, with waste I would say 2 molds

Is this right? What do I win?

Wow that link is awesome, I just bookmarked it.

Most of the mold will be a cavity for a cut down rage craw :) so it looks like 2-3 molds. Thanks a ton!

Actually I just went out and re-measured what the mold box is and its 2.25" X 3.5" X .5" So I should be able to get 5.5 molds per pound of RTV.

I'm not sure how I can measure the bait to take out, but I believe its almost half the mold. So realistically 7-8 molds?

Take a container slightly larger than you bait, fill it with water to the top. If you bait floats, take something to hold your bait and push it down in the container letting th water overflow untill the bait it completely submerged. Then thake the bait out and mesaure the volume of area where there is no water. This is the volume your bait.

20 gms per cu in. So that mold would make about 2 1/2. But 1" thick is more than adequate so you should be able to make at least 3. If you just barely cover the model and if it's appx 1/2 " you could back fill with a silicone/water mix. That would allow you to get See my thread on DIY a 1/2 rd...., Doing that would make appx 7 1/4 molds from that pound.

PM if you need more.
