Durham's Rock Hard Water Putty for Molds...will it work?

Recommended Posts

pop I am sorry, I thought it was a two sided mold.

I take just a verry thin layer of 100% silicon and put it on the bottom of the lure to make it seal to the bottom of the container.

I have heard of people using petrolium jelly, or somthing else like that .

I get verry little of the putty under the item being molded.

Sorry again pop about the misunderstanding.

Pop I am still trying to get a set of pictures done for the site to make it a bit easier.

Like previous posters have stated this stuff works great for both lead and soft plastic molds . All the moisture must be baked out before pouring hot lead though (or a hot lead explosion can result ). I had a mold crack once when I baked it using a heat lamp and I think one part of the mold was hotter than the rest resulting in some expansion stresses. Either using an oven or a lower wattage bulb to keep temps even would be best.

I made up a three part mold for a Mad Man craw copy that is perfect.
