Candle Soot Positives- Easily available Easy to apply Not too messy Lasts quite a few casts before it needs re-applied Little to no cost Negatives- Discolors the mold Can get on your hands Not permanent Chance of burning yourself with hot wax WD40 Positives- Easily available Low cost Very easy to apply Casts literally drop out when mold is opened Doubles as a flux Negatives- Messy to apply Lasts only a short time Explosive if too much is used Highly flammable if it comes into contact with your melting pot.
