FISHGOD
When you get it figured out you will be very popular. I have been testing paints for a year to find a plastisol paint that works, meaning sticks to the bait and does not have issues with scent or worm oil. I need an airbrushable paint that will stay on but not react to the plastic. If you find it, please share.
Frank
Are you painting your own lures you made. The reason I ask is cause I read some where on lc site that there paint sticks well to fresh poured baits but if you wait more than a day you can wipe them down with there thinner. I paint mine with lc paint and you cant get it off unless you cut it off. Hope this helps Frank
MuskyGary
Frank, could you give us your painting procedure? Do you use a brush, airbrush or what? How much thinner do you use in the paint?
Frank
Frank, could you give us your painting procedure? Do you use a brush, airbrush or what? How much thinner do you use in the paint? There is no procedure I pour and after they cool I air brush the paint on and done. I do not wipe with any thing. I reduce at least 1 to 1 and if I want a softer color I reduce 1 to 1 1/2 thinner if it is cooler I use thinner. If it is hotter I use the retarder. Look in the gallery under rainbows and they are mine. I dripped some paint on another one not in the pic and had to cut the color off to clean it up. Not hard at all. Frank Frank: What kind of air brush do you use? I've never painted before but have a need now.... Tyring to go on the lower side for $$$ if possible as it will be a very limited use item for me. Frank
Gary,Jim and BBK to stay on the low side of an air brush try this. Go to ebay and search for a seller named peco london and search his products for a gravity feed brush with a .3 needle. The reason I say look for him is that he has some that are about 26.00 shipped to your door so look carefully and you will find them. They come from china but they work good for thie type of paint. This paint when reduced 1 to 1 sprays very good. 1 to 1 1/2 even better. The brushes are knock off of the iwata brand. The only thing they dont come with is a hose and regulator. Search for a hose on ebay also but the regulator try and get a good one. It dont take a proffesional to use that type of brush. And Gary that paint job consists of a pearl red stripe down each side and dots from a tooth pick dipped in black paint. Of coarse it is injected in two colors first. Thats it. Hey and when you go to get the paint dont forget to get clear so you can add pearl powders to and make some differant colors. Hope this helps and if I find the link to the airbrush I will post it. They also have different add ons and hoses for air brushing. Its cheap and works.

smallmouthaholic
I've been air brushing wooden top-water plugs,buzz-baits and spinner baits for 21 years .I would not even consider air brushing w/o a compressor w/air storage tanks. Here's some info on Pasche equipment - http://www.tcpglobal.com/airbrushdepot/paasche.aspx?gclid=CLGfreHm6qECFch_5QodA3YOIQ

BBK
My guess is yes it is and 4 bucks cheaper too. Frank Now would that brush also work for rough painting cranks? Nothing like you see the custom guys making that look exactly like a fish, but if I wanted to paint some beat up ones white or chart or something like that... [/quo My opinion on a .3 tip it is to small and will only get you frustrated trying to do what you ask it to. My preferance is at least a .5 tip to paint a bait. The only thing is that it is hard to find a .5 tip brush at that price. But if you look hard enough I am sure you will. If you get a .5 it will work both ways so you would not have to get two. BBK
Thanks frank, I really have no clue about air brushing... still doing research. I got a bait shop order for plastics yesterday so I'm going to have a little extra cash to work with. Trying to decide whether to get set up for painting or to get an injector and a mold from bear. I've already got a small compressor that I think would work for air brushing (says air brush for one of the accessories); so all I would need is the brush, hose, regulator, and paint right? I make my own swimbaits and was thinking about using a sponge brush to paint.. but air brush would work a lot better. This is really good info guys, going to help a lot of newbies out for sure! Pitbull Baits
Werw going to use LC's paints tonight on some swimbaits. They will be freshly pored swimbaits. So we will see how they work and I will show some pictures tonight or tomarrow. Don't expect a Mona Lisa swimbait paint job first time airbrushing for the both of use. I hope we don't lose a eye or something
