Hi Pete, Wow, I hope that $49 is for a box and not just one on the "Dust Be Gone" I have used the one under the "Dust Be Gone", the "Dust masks P1" with the valve, it does help a little on breathing out. The one I am using now it the 3M 8210. It is a little thicker and has two straps to hold in postion better. After 30 min in a dusty enviroment, I throw away and get a new one because they get clogged up pretty quick. For spray painting I use My link. It has carbon filters for the vapors. Then I keep it in a zip loc bag to preserve the carbon filter.

hazmail
Thanks Dave, I have an enclosed graphite mask but it gets a bit sweaty in there, especially in the Summer, also use the P1 masks and they leak around my big hooter allowing dust to enter and clog it up - Looks like I might have to spend the big $ on and fan forced wood turners mask, if this ' dust be gone' does not work - or give up wood!!!!!!!!!! Thanks again Pete
Vodkaman
My FF mask has a fan ventilation system. It is a joy to use in this heat and humidity. Dave
philB
Hi Pete I use a moldex half respirator. I think it may be similar to the 3M Dave mentioned but not sure. They are quite expensive but are comfy and fit well. Different filters are available for vapour or dust and just screw on. I am sure these or similar would be available where you are. http://www.tooled-up.com/ShowImage.aspx?Type=3&File=MOL898225.jpg&Man=MOL1&Size=460 Phil

Dave I will PM you about your FF mask?? Pete
Lure--Prof
Pete, I have been curious about these since I saw them in a Woodcraft catalog: Next time I'm at a Woodcraft store, which should be soon, I'm bringing one home. They look comfy and they say it will work with a beard, which appeals to me a lot. If I'm not mistaken they're about the same price here. I want to try one on in the store after I buy it, just to make sure I'm not getting the wrong size. I don't know, but I doubt that they'd be too happy about a refund or exchange via mail order . If you can wait about a month I'll be able to inform you as to its comfort in the heat. Dean

Dean Thanks Dean- I ordered one express freight on Tuesday (3 days back) and it still has not arrived, I would have been better off ordering it from U.S They have a 4 micron filter and are washable, which I liked - I just measured my neck and ordered that size (16 -18). I will let you know how it goes, if it ever gets here.Pete
mark poulson
Pete, As a lifelong carpenter and woodworker, I can tell you the best way to defeat dust is to have a good dust collection system, with pickups at each individual machine, and on/off dampers, so your dust mask is not the primary filtering system. That way you can use the cheap cotton masks that don't cause sweating, and that have a metal strip that molds to your nose. I made my own cyclone system from a couple of 1000cfm kitchen exhaust fans (explosion proof) that I got off a job years ago. It has made a huge difference in both how much dust there is in my garage, and in how much my sinuses get messed up. If you decide to go with one of the masks that has a fan attached to your belt, be careful where you mount the intake, and what you eat for dinner, or you're in for a rude surprise. JR77
i also use a moldex half face respirator when cutting and sanding lures from cedar(western red), sure it stops me breathing it in but the dust that gets into my eyes seems to make its way into my throat and is very irritating i have started wearing dust proof goggles but as you mentioned pete they make you sweat a lot and fog up on cooler days. i also considered buying a powered respirator but $450 is a lot to spend. pete i have seen some triton ones sell on ebay (new)here in aust for around $150-200 but that is still alot to spend when you wont get a warranty as triton are no more! i did try a powered respirator on at a local woodies club here and it was quite comfortable and i think it would be very suitable for what i want but cant get past the high price tag! cheers JR...
