MuskyGary
Ive seen on some mold sellers that they pour tails, let them harden, then pour the worm a different color and I want to be sure I got this right. I have a Charlie Brewer type of worm mold (two piece). I want to pour the worms about half way, let them harden, open the mold and cut them off with a exacto knife, fit the tais back in the mold, close it up and top the rest of the mold off with adifferent color. Have I got this right? So I can make black wormw with pink tails?
GB GONE
That is how they do it.... Just make sure that second color is good and hot or they will not bind well. Jim

They won't all come out exactly the same but you won't have to remelt anything and it takes less time. All a matter of getting the timing down on the tails.
GB GONE
I do it as Richard mentioned and can get them almost exact without opening and cutting. It is way faster and just takes a little practice. Also, if you look to make lots and want them perfect every time, head over to www.basstackle.com. They have molds with a slider bar that allows for injection of the tail one color and injection of the body another. Del-mart.com has these molds as well. MuskyGary
I just tried it and got three out of five perfect! Now Im spending more time pouring baits than I am fishing. Lets see thats around another 100 color combinations I can add to my tacklebox! My wife says I need another boat to haul my tackle in
bluegrasslover
I've been doing the same thing with black w/ blue tips. I actually started making a tip mold. Basically, just cut some tails to length, poured some plaster then stuck the tails into the plaster. In testing, I was able to easily pull the tips right out so no reason to make it a 2 piece. I still need to seal it but it seems like it's going to work fine. I need to get this done because I've been doing really well with the black blue tips and I'm about to run out!
