cadman
Cad you may be right my brotha... If so any of you hosers been catching anything... I've been catching a lot of largemouth in a lake north of me about an hour drive on my jigs. A lot of fish in the 2 lb range and every trip out there at least a 4-5lb fish. But constant action all the time. At least 20 fish days every time out for a 6 hour period.

Hey Cad that's not bad at all. What is the lake called? I lived in Illinois till 97 and back again in 08 and 09 and loved to fish lake Milliken in will county http://pages.ripco.net/~jwn/milliken.html I also caught a nice Pike trout fishing in the early spring... good fun but now I am in Seminole in Pinellas county http://www.pinellascounty-fl.com/PinellasCountyFL_files/Map.jpg Flatsrat76
cadman
Flats, Actually the lake is in S.E Wisconsin called Lake Geneva. Phenomenal fishery. Not a lot of hawgs, but the fishing is pretty consistent everyday, and it's fun to catch fish every 20 to 30 minutes even if they are not huge. I have to check out that lake that you mentioned, I have heard of it but have never fished it. Now that you're in Florida it must be nice to fish for different fish. I've never fished the ocean just inland fresh water lakes. So the biggest fighting fish I've gotten was a musky. So now that you have such a diverse fishery go get them. JSC
Guys it all ways gets this slow this time of the year ... Summertime and a lot of the lures made during the winter are being used now. It is hot as it can be right now but have managed to get out about 2 to 3 times a week for the past 3 weeks ... my river has been a little high for where the best Bass fishing is this time of the year (got down a little last week and I hit a couple of the spots and in on "hole" I made 4 cast and caught 4 back to back on 1/4oz spinner bait (In this same hole I have hit it a lot of times and caught 20 or more) ... I think I only caught 6 keeper size bass and they were1 1/2 to 3 # ... the rest of the time my youngest Gran Son (10 year old) and I caught good sized Warmouth ... The water I have had to fish with the high water like it is turned out few Bass but I have "Loaded Up" on good size warmouth 20 to 40 per morning ( I have only been staying out till around 11:00) All of this on 1/4 oz extra light wire spinner bait (Bass have been real slow on plastic right now). Next week it looks like I might get in a morning or 2 up river ... just hope the wind does not hold the tide in to bad. We in this area are holding our breath .. sweating out the oil spill .... our beaches in this area can be cleaned easier than the marshes and we are really worried about it getting in the Bay .. The Beaches are "Sandy" while the marshes have the grass that catches the "Mess" I really hate to see the results in the marshes in LA ... 2 counties the one I live in and the one to the west have worked up plans to try and keep it out of the Bay by holding it out of the Destin Pass ... this is despite of what the FEDS have to say about it (the FEDS plan will not do the job). Ive talked long enough. Have a Good Day JSC
cadman
Flats, I'll check out your pics and your vids. I've seen the one with your camera propped on the sand. Pretty cool. JSC, Good time to go fishing for sure. Enjoy the fishing with your grandson know matter what you catch. Kids usually aren't species specific. They just want to go out and catch fish after fish even if they are small it keep them occupied. Business has slowed to a trickle here and there for me, so I enjoy the break and go fishing as much as possible. It gives me a needed break from pouring from September to May. As far as the BP oil spill. It is so sad that this happened. I am of the mentality that BP should have had a better back up plan should this have ever happened and they didn't. All the money they make and charge for gasoline, all the engineers, and they didn't have a clue on how to stop an oil leak. They should have been better prepared. Hopefully, this won't kill too many wildlife and fish species. It is definitely a tragedy that possibly could have been avoided if they had better safeguards in place or stricter safety guidelines. Good fishing guys...................................Ted(Cadman)
Ogajiga
Ain't fishin' as much as you mainland guys due to ruff coastal conditions, but even in HI grass, weeds, & food plants are needing seasonal attention. Bizness keeps me bizzy, tho still down from pre-crash. Are you other tackle makers moving product OK ?

Thank God I don't rely on this for my full source of income. My busiest months are March up till May. The first Saturday in May is opening season in Wisconsin for game fish, and everybody wants their jigs usually by that time.Since I'm so close to Wisconsin, I have a lot of customers from there. Other than that I'm happy the way my product moves. Busy for quite awhile, and then it slows down where I can go fishing every weekend. JSC
JSC I feel your pain about the oil spill and I hope it will stay in the look and this storm brewing will not push it closer Do you fish for Reds or Trout in your area?? Hi FR They are catching Specs & Reds out in the Bay now ... I wait until they get here in the mouth of the river ... there ar a few reds most all year round in the mouth of the river but they are scattered .. starting in Aug_Sept things get better for the Reds and the Specs .. my main time for them is when the water cools a little and they start "Sticking" in spots ... warm water and they really move around (Specs) the Reds are mixed in with my Bass Fishing. The oil will be bad on the beaches has all ready affected the fishing .... our part of the Gulf is closed ... thnk goodness the beaches will be easier to clean ... just hope we can keep it out of the Bay ... Escambia Bay (Pensacola) has gotten the "Slick" in it ... so far the Choctawhatchee has missed it but ... our Beaches are getting a Few "Tar Balls" which are being cleaned up right away and here in Walton County we have not had any Beachs closed. Take Care Guys JSC
