Testing Swimbaits

I got to test it this afternoon.. sank slowly without the hardware ( Hooks and splitrings )

Drilled out some led untill it floated barley, added hardware and it now sinks very slowly. exactly what I wanted.

But when pulled thru the water I get a little more wobbel than an actual swimming motion...

Is the shape wrong ?

Once I add the microfiber anal, dorsal and tail will this correct the action ?

The bait is 8" long... is that to short for an actual swimming bait ?

You might want to taper the body towards the back more and make the head section the longest. Also you might want to consider moving the line tie to the bottom of the nose. look at other swimbaits and their general shape and design. But that is a very good looking bait. great looking detail and clean hinges.

I've read in previous posts that the bait sections should get progressively smaller from head to tail with the head being the largest. I'm not a builder and am only passing along what I've read in the archives.

I would just add that keeping the ballast as far forward as you can helps keep the tail sections buoyant and swimming more easily, and keeps the head more stable when it swims.

Keeping the ballast as low in the bait as possible helps cut down wobble.

Also, flatter sides lead to less wobble, rounder sides more wobble, just like in a crank bait.

The head size makes a lot of sense, as I checked a bunch of them out I do notice the head section bigger.

Also the sides could be a little flatter.
