CaptRodney
Anyone have experience with Hilts molds got a couple from dolphin sports I have to say the bullet mold line inserts need epoxy or jb welded in place. Besides that my biggest issie is the slip jig mold. It seems nothing I try do I get all 4 cavities to fill the collar part of the mold if the do 1/2 the time the have a hairline in them and break of when demolding. I pour my own sinkers and jig heads and have not had that issue with my do-it jig molds with a collar. Perhaps hilts sprue is no large egnough to allow it to flow fluid. I am at a loss any suggestions. I have tried higher head on my lee pot slow medium and fast pouring nothing seems to remedy it. Maybe its a technique to it... I have tried wheel weight lead, lead shot and PL3 Pencil Lead. Al had simular results pencil lead was a little better.
BBK
Better just sell me the bullet mold, dont waste your time there! LOL Heat your lead as hot as you can get it to pour the slip jigs, I pour mine right out of a lee IV with 100% accuracy using wheel weights. The key is to put the pot on 9 and leave it there. Spraying the mold and insert with drop out release helps a ton, you can get it from zeiners in KS.

BBK
When doing slip jigs you have to have the rod covered in some type of release, candle soot or bullet release. Only fill the pot 1/2 full at most and let it heat up for a good 20-30 minutes. Sometimes mine gets so hot the crud on top glows red, hotter the better for pouring slip jigs. Just remember that when lead gets that hot it releases MUCH more toxins into the air, so extra ventilation is required. If you have any more questions... you know where to find me LOL Edited July 11, 2010 by BBK

It has helped me with most of the problems I was having with a few lead molds not filling.
