gdowney
Hate to ask this question because I know it has been asked a dozen times. Is there a web-site similar to Del-Mart's that has custom made jig and spinnerbait molds? I am wanting to look at the molds before ordering and I am wanting to buy molds with cavities all the same size. After doing a search for jig molds here the only information that I can find was not to buy any molds from a guy in Virginia. Thanks. The molds you are referring to where you get one size with multiple cavities are usually production molds. Those are usually custom made. Do-It has production molds but they are only in round head style I believe. Take a look at this link. http://www.do-itmolds.com/category.aspx?c=

Well, unfortunately the "guy in Virginia" seems to not be doing work right now, rumor is he had back surgery. While there have been a lot of complaints about his customer service....his molds are about as good as they get, and he is the only cnc mold maker who was making lead molds (vs soft plastic molds) on any large scale. While production was at times slow, he always came through for me, my experience with Shawn was that patience paid off with super molds. I personally hope he gets back into production. This isn't the person that I read about.
gdowney
Thanks Cadman. I was wanting to use a heavy wire hook with the weedless round jig. At Barlows they are saying that it will not work in the mold. I was hopeing to look around and find a mold that would take a heavy wire hook. Ogajiga
GD, modifying a mold for heavier hooks is a fairly common Do-it yourself project. Quite a few TU members post that they use a Dremel, I prefer a drill press, and a surprising # of posters have access to machine shop tools including CNC mills. Mostly just enlarging eye slots and hook shank channels to fit. Another option, which I haven't tried since I don't fish weedless, would be to cut a Round Head mold slot to fit a weedguard - a single wire guard mod could probably be scribed with an awl or hand held Dremel bit in soft aluminum. gdowney
Thanks for the help. There is a machine shop in my area. If making jigs seems to be the route that I want to go which I am sure that it is. I may go there and see what they would charge to make molds. I am a little hard headed and would rather pay a little more for a mold that has all the same size cavities rather than buy a mold like Do-It that I am only going to use 1 cavitiy from and have to buy several of them. Again thanks for the help. It's nice to have a place like this to go to learn.
Ogajiga
GD, here's a multi-cav custom mold maker. Check his stock mold list - might have what you want. I haven't tried him yet, but one of our FL members says he's a nice guy in person. Ace Hand Molds
