jaycount
Yes this is kind of a crazy question so for why I'm asking: I'm making a spreadsheet where I can plug in how much I pay for ingredients to a soft plastic recipe, how much I use in a batch, and how many of the baits I get from a batch. The result showing how much money I'm actually paying per batch, per bait, etc. So since most plastic color recipes are measured by number of drops I figure I should try to make a guesstimation of how many drops are in an oz. of color and go from there. So that leaves the question for all of you experienced pourers. Approx how many drops do YOU get out of an ounce (or two ounces if that's all you have to refer to) of colorant? And yes, OF COURSE, I will upload the spreadsheet for all of TU to use

Smallie
approx 452 drops per ounce if I remember correctly... NO! you are wrong - there are 453 drops. LOL Seriously, I have found that depending on what you use to put the hole in the end of the nozzle affects the size of the drops. If you buy a container from Bears Baits, it comes with an insert (or it did a year ago) that has quite a large hole and can really make a big drop if you squeeze too hard. The MF one ounce bottles have a similar insert with a much smaller hole. So, it is hard to say how many drops in an ounce because of these variables. I use the same pin to puncture nozzles, adapt each recipe as I try them to suite my tastes and keep records in a loose leaf binder. Keep in mind that all manufacturers colorants are different and require adjustments when changing from one to another.
mark poulson
For me, it's "season to taste", since I only pour for myself. If I get a color I like, I remember how I got it, and write it down. I only use Del's products, so it is consistent. I'm playing around with candle colorants, but they are so strong, I find I have to make up four oz. of plastic with each color, and then use pieces of that starter batch to tint my pouring batches.
