rex upshaw
sorry to keep flooding you guys with questions, but i'm trying to get this figured out. i was wondering what you guys would say is the right amount of salt to use if i'm mixing 4oz of plastic at a time. by the way, all the feedback i have received has helped me big time. i just received my platic, colors etc. and have been brewing up some interesting worms. now i realize that i have to get more diff. colors, glitter and whole bunch more plastic. all your help has been greatly appreciated and i'm learning a lot from you guys. thanks for all the help. rex
JD
about 2oz salt to 4 oz. plastic to give me a 33% salt mix that I believe is pretty close to a Sen... if thats what you're making. Others more expert than me, I'm sure will chime in. JD
rex upshaw
what about for non senko's, just standard worms, same thing?
JD
I like my worms to float, so I don't add any salt.
nova
I use 1/2 cup plastisol as my basic recipe and I add almost 1/4 cup of floured salt which I figure gives me around 40 % salt by volume. After which you stir like a mad man and keep stirring. What comes out does not show any salt crystals (like senkos); but you can feel the difference in the weight. Hope this helps a little. rookiepourer
I pour seven different baits, drop shot worms, 5.5" curl tail worm, 6" flippin worms, jig trailers, 4.5" paddle tail worms, 10" curl tail worm and 5.25" senko type worm. The only worms I add salt dirrectly in the plastic are the senko's. The others are all salted on the bottom of the worms excluding the tail sections. If you add salt to the whole worm it will not float up off the bottom. As for the senko's it's 4tblsp salt for 1/2cup plastic. In pool testing they fall about 1/2 sec faster to the bottom of a 8' deep pool. I hope this helps Mark
nova
Up here where I am, if it dosen't have salt in it you have a hard time selling it. Different strokes for different folks I guess.
