Have someone make the baits for us and mark them up? 4.Was thinking of teaching the boys how to make and when we sell their baits it helps them for YWO summer camp. 5.ATT-A-BOY bait company "These baits REALLY do make a difference" 6.I dont have much money to start but very willing to start small and grow I need guidance please to make a difference for these fatherless boys!!!! Thank you Ken
GB GONE
Go forward.... With such a great cause behind you, you will succeed!!!! Have faith along the way! In my opionion, I would buy the baits in the beginning and learn to paint them. Hot lead and kids DO NOT mix for sure. Maybe you can grow into making your own after getting your feet wet. Look for Ted (Cadman) here on TU and see if he can help you with jigs or spinnerbaits. If not, put a wanted ad up. Just my 2 cents!! jdr418
If you are going to sell tackle be sure that you comply with Texas Sales Tax, Assumed Name for Business requirements and Federal Sport Fishing Excise Tax regulations. You dont want the State Comptroller or the IRS knocking on your door.
toadfrog
Personally If I were going to teach them to make tackle I would start with panfish flies and striper streamers . No lead no paint.just hooks and materials. I do the same thing you are attempting except the age group is 60 to 94. I suggest you check out Zieners in kansas for tools ect. Ken youthinthewild.com If you choose to make and sell panfish flies, striper streamers or any other flies, here is a link to the fly fishing clubs of Texas. http://www.askaboutflyfishing.com/stpr_clubs.cfm?c=US&st=TX Suggest you write each club and ask for help for the boys in tieing and selling their flies to make money to go fishing. Also maybe some club members have their own private water or club houses that need cleaned up. Looks like those boys are beefy and can work for food and fishing. Maybe a club would take on a weekend project to work and teach the boys in any number of ways. Keep up the good work and good luck!
