Ric670
Can anyone out there tell me why i am getting a milky residue on my silicone mold? I tried to make a mold from the alumilite 3 i let it cure its alotted time, and when i tried to make some swimbait molds like the newest one i have posted in the gallery (bluegill swimmer) i get what i can only describe as dimples. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Rick
JoeDobs
I have made a few rtv molds myself. All of them seem to "sweat" a littlebit. I was told by Alumilite that it is the oils in the rtv "sweating" out. I thought that maybe I hadn't mixed the rtv enough, but it looks to be a common thing. I did some searching and found that some people will throw their mold in the microwave for a few minutes to get the oils to come out. I put mine in the microwave anyhow before my first pour, and then take a soft lint free towel and wipe out the inside of the mold cavities. I haven't had any problems with dimples since I started doing this. Hope this helps Joe
