patrick reif
Just a quick survey. I just ordered another mold from Basstackle. A 2 cavity 2.5" Paca chunk for JNP. This will be one of the last molds I'll order and will bring my inventory up to 4 aluminum molds for plastics, 3 rtv molds and 2 jig molds. I want a hollow bodied swimbait mold and the 5" Kalin style grub mold as well...maybe a tube mold one day, but I'm about done. Keep in mind that I'm only pouring for myself and a couple buddies, and will only go through about 1 gallon of plastic a year. How many molds do you guys have? GB GONE
If it was just for me and my buds, I'd say I'd need about 8 styles, in maybe 2 sizes, and probably 10-15 of those molds each... I have just sold around 50 molds but I have around 500 with many being 3-5 cavity molds. I just added on many hand injections molds so I can do some styles that were limited with hand pouring. longhorn
That's like me saying I'm only going to have a couple beers I haven't counted my molds...I'm guessing 150 or so...most are home made but I have some LC RTV. Most are POP. I don't own an aluminum...I'm a member of the old school.

Just like saying the boat doesn't catch the fish when you see a 50,000+ boat ride by!!!! Aluminum molds don't make the baits any better for sure but I do wish I could upgrade my boat to a $50+ deal!!! LOL!!! Jim
Piscivorous Pike
I have a plastic storeage bin full of molds, about 40-50 in POP, DWP and RTV (even home made H2O accelerated RTV). I only pour for myself and buds; I have no commercial molds, make all my own, (part of the fun!) I have a duffle bag full of different color patterns of the lures that I fish with and it weighs about 35#'s! There is one jerk fluke design with many variation, mainly different sizes and have 3-5 molds per each, (4 styles). Same for some fluke/slug combos. Got a copies of the javallon and a 9" reaper too. One sytle of swim bait and miscellaneous molds, a few odd ball stuff that I have a single mold for. I started making molds and melting down soft baits to pour years before the internet but never got deep into it. Then I found a killer fluke that was no longer made and I wanted some copies and that is what propelled me into TU.

I do have 5 aluminum molds and a few rtv that I very rarely use(thinking about selling them). 99% of my molds are pop and are of my own design. Old school is the way to go for my money; the "latest and greatest" is not always the way to go. www.novalures.com
