Oxblood Formula

Recommended Posts

I took a quick look on the website at the color. I have never seen the worm in person so it is hard to say. I have a really good nightcrawler/oxblood color that may be similar:

1 cups plastic

5 drops LC oxblood

2 drops LC pumkinseed

1 drop LC black

I usually add salt, scent and about 1/4-1/2 tsp. large red flake (.62)

I just realized those pigment amounts were for a 1/2 cup trial size. Double them up for 1 cup - 10 drops oxblood, 4 pumkinseed, 2 black. Otherwise they will probably be like a nightcrawler smoke color (might be neat...but probably not what you are after).

Thanks. I add that note to the printout of your recipe.

I got impatient, so I decided to try to match the Robo oxblood lite red flake color from the Del's colors and candle colors I already have.

To 4oz of plastic, I added 9 drops of purple, and four thin shavings of brown candle color. I actually kept reheating the plastic, and adding more brown, until the dripping on my putty knife blade was close to the tail on a Robo worm.

I added some .015 red glitter, and it gave the plastic a red hint.

I think it works, but it's not the same as the Robo, which is a laminate with a light brown back and blue belly.

I'll find out this weekend if it works. If I get bit on it, that is.

I did some Ikas, and some flick shake worms with the color. I made the Ikas full strength, and then cut the rest of the plastic 1/1 with new plastic for the worms, so they are much lighter.
