Bulk Painting Jigheads

Recommended Posts

Hi i've looked over the site for some info on painting jigheads in bulk. I started out powder painting but the customer wants me to match there original line exactly. I bought some paint from stamina tackle to try but i cant find a way to do this in a production style manner. I bought vinyl paint and vinyl thinner. If anyone has any help I have over 200,000 jigheads to paint by mid December. Thanks in advance for the help.

Give us a pic of the pattern to kick start the brain. Generaly I'd say they are using Bohning lure lac. on the originals.

Make you some "Dipping" pans (best out of wood and with a V shape) about 16" long

Next make up some stips to hang them on about 14 inches long and drill holes the required distance to keep the jigs from touching each other ( the thickness and width of the strips will depend on the size of the jigs)

Now make a rack out of 2X4s (turn on edge and connect on the ends with a strip width between 2x4s roughly 12" wide enough to accomidate the strips. Length of 2x4s you can detrmine by space available

Hang the jigs on the strips .. dip them "Screte" them and hang on rack for drying

Hope you get the general idea .. before power paint I did this with lacquer.

Here is a link to an old Component Systems Paint catalog. It details how to go about doing a large scale vinyl operation in there:

I built something similar back when I was doing lots of vinyl. I built my dip trays out of roof flashing and JB-Weld. I also tweaked other bits of the design but the overall operation was pretty much the same.
