rugbyfisherman
Thanks. I may try to mix and match some colours off of some pictures. I was hoping that someone might have made up some rainbow trout stick worms for customers and would share their recipe. My local store doesn't carry that colour senk so I can't take a look. Apparently it is a really hot colour in the pro circuits.
Fish Candy Bait Company
If the pro's are using it then try to find out which ones. Then maybe you could see a picture of it on their website. There also is a possibility that who ever is making it won't release it until it has been used and tested by the pro for awhile. You could try a light tan or light green with large black glitter and a white or light bubblegum with the black glitter for the bottom half. Vodkaman
Rainbow trout are all about the pink stripe down the lateral line and the colored speckles. Google some pics. If you limit yourself to two color laminates, I would be thinking light olive green back and pink belly with a scattering of contrasting flake colors in each of the laminates. Why copy someone elses recipe when nature (and Google) is providing you with the correct colors. Dave
smallmouthaholic
Rainbow trout Slugo's were made 21 years ago and productive in clear water lakes where fingerling trout were stocked.

Piscivorous Pike
Oncorhynchus mykiss, This creature has so many unbelievable color variations. Half of what we call rainbow trout are not really, they are sub species called red bands and they have more pronounce parr marks. Others are silver without hardly and bands or parrs and this includes the steal heads. If you are making lures to "match the hatch" you cannot use the traditional red or pink band because all of the Oncorhynchus s. that are juveniles, (usually smaller than 8 inches) have very pronounced parr marks, the verticle bands. Now that is to say making lures that have the pattern of adult trout don't produce, they do, but if you want realistic coloration you must consider the parr marks. I have more antidotal experience than research to cover this statement I am about to make but many species of fish and especially the trouts treat the parr mark as a strike trigger as they signify a juvenile trout/salmon which has a high oil content, high proteint and calorie content and soft ray dorsal fins that will not stick in their throat. I make many trout patterns or modify commerical ones by adding bluish parr marks to the lure and it helps increase the catch. Please Google the key words : Juvenile Rainbow Trout and look at the image page and you will see those strongly colored parr marks. Those are a part of the rainbow trout life cycle. GDille
Laminate a watermellon with silver flake over a very diluted firetail with a black flake. I have always called this watermellon slice personally. George
