Pop
How is everyone checking the pouring temperature of their plastic. Mostly interested in microwaving the plastic. Pop
Fish_N_Fool
you can tell with some experience as to how it looks and how it smokes. At the right temp it will smoke alot and be pretty watery. If it gets too hot it will turn yellow for light colors or darker for dark colors. If you get to way to hot it will stink and turn to cottage cheese!!! LOL It is real ez to over nuke it in a micowave. The temp you are looking for is about 350 Deg. so set your micowave for only about 2 mins at a time and check and stir offen. BigZ
I use a Raytek IR thermometer, you don't have to touch the plastic, and you can tell what the temp is from a distance. It even has a laser pointer built in to it so you can see where you're checking it. I think it checks a 1" area at a 6" distance and it's +- 1 degree. I think they're about 99 bux now. Crafstman even has one for about 50 bucks, probably cheaper on eBay or somewhere online......Hope this helps...
Pop
Numerous models available. What model are you using? Pop
BigZ
I have the Raytek Minitemp MT-4. they are about 100 bucks still. if you look around there are a lot of other ones cheaper that have the same specs. The best thing about it is you do not have to wait for a reading, it comes up right now, and you don't have to put anything in the plastic (Less burns..). I've been seeing IR therms on eBay for less than 30 bucks lately, but the quality is unknown to me. Good Luck.
