Any Ideas How This Is Done In A Bears 1.75 Twitchy Mold

Recommended Posts

I looks like he added a rod to the mold to dip in another color and install it then shoot it with another. You have to put a groove in the mold at the top of each cavity that fits a wire or rod. If you search this forum you will find a post that I put a pic of another mold that I did it to, it was a worm mold. Frank

Much easier than that Frank. Just dip the insert that is provided with the mold in green. Replace the insert and shoot the mold.

Someone that does a lot of hollow belly swimbaits started idea that a while ago. ;)

There is no insert on his 1.75 twitchy. I think this was done by Spooman on bears site. Frank

Frank is right Jim, no inserts included with that mold, you would have to slightly mod the mold to fit a very small rod to get that core colour

it also looks like he dipped the bait to put the eyes under some plastic. he could have but the green on the outside of the original bait, added the eyes and dipped in clear.

you can clearly see the hollow spot left by a wire in the bait itself, leaving the green inside the original bait, eyes added and dipped in clear.

I second that SHK it is pretty clear there was a wire. He has a post with a jacobs mold that he has done the same thing to. I think it was a paddle tail. Frank

I think he used a wire, dipped it in green and put that next to the bait. Then, he dipped the bait + wire with green in clear and removed the wire when cool.

More I look, it seems that it is outside of the main body vs inside. As BBK said, the bait looks pretty thick now.

If you look ar one of his original pics you can see where he put the wire in and see the hollow inside. I cant remamber his web site. Frank

You've got it Frank.

I did a similar thing as a pouring exercise and posted a pic in the gallery. It's a frog with a yellow piece of plastic inside. This one was done in an open mold.
