tigerfire
I am not the best at figuring out colors, so I was hoping to get some help. What kind of recipe would you come up with for this guy?

Lure Craft sells some paint for that.
GB GONE
Depends on what kind of mold you are talking about, but I would make the dots or blobs with plastic in my mold first, close the mold and then pour 2 colors into the mold. Single sided molds would be easier even. I would experiment with greens, greys, green-browns. Painting is an option also. All depends if you are set-up to go that route. If I get time, I'll experiment and pass along any recipes that may be decent. Jim
tigerfire
I'm hand pouring a two piece mold. Is there a good way to do dots or blobs other than trying to pour a dot of plastic? Would I dip a stick in the plastic then try making dots on the mold? I've never tried it, so any help is greatly appreciated.
GB GONE
I'd use whatever you use to stir your plastic with. I use my knife sometimes but usually just pour them out of my cup. Avoid a wooden object as you will introduce bubbles. The blobs can be poured but it takes a lot of time and effort. Depending on how much time you want to devote, you can make a small blob in the center and then a smal ring around that blob in a contrasting color. Lots of work for sure though. Good thing is if the blob doesn't work out, just peel it off and "blob" again.... Jim
nova
The one question I have is what color is the frog's belly. That's what the fish will see the most of and to me that's the important color. I'm not discounting your efforts to make a realisticly colored bait, they sell like hotcakes; but it still has to catch fish. www.novalures.com Edited September 21, 2010 by nova
GB GONE
That is usually the simple part Nil. Usually a dull white-grey or a white green. A lot of times I'll use a drop of black in a few drops of white or a drop of green in a few white. Rarely any type of pattern on the belly. Helps a bunch that it is the easy part!!! Jim Jim; I've seen them with white; grey and even a pale yellow belly. I understand what he's trying to do with the spots. I would use highlight powders with a small art brush to make the dots and then dip the whole frog in clear plastic. www.novalures.com
tigerfire
The frog was hanging around the boat for a little while. I immediately rushed to get my camera. After a few minutes, I thought about taking a picture of the belly, but by then, I saw him jump off the boat and swim away. His belly was an off white or light grey kind of color though. These are some great tips. If any one else has any more tips, they are greatly appreciated. Thanks!
